With new car prices soaring to an all-time average high of $36,848, many
people are feeling priced out of the market says a new report from The Wall Street Journal. But, with the national
average price for a 1-3 year-old used car being under $22,500, more and more
people are snatching up pre-owned cars in South Texas from McAllen to Harlingen
to Brownsville.
As people in the Rio Grande Valley have learned, with the price difference
of almost $13,500, this the widest gap between new and previously owned cars in
five years. The end of zero percent financing from car manufacturing has also
led to higher monthly payments for new car buyers.
Still, the demand for quality vehicles remains high as families in Harlingen,
McAllen and Brownsville outgrow their vehicles or need to replace them. Previously
owned cars are now seen as a quality, affordable option for people from all
over South Texas.
Its no wonder people in McAllen, Harlingen, Brownsville and as far as San
Antonio and Houston regularly purchase from Trevino’s Auto Mart where the average
pre-owned vehicle price is $17,500. That is almost a $20,000 savings versus
purchasing new vehicle and a $5,000 savings from purchasing from other
pre-owned dealers.
